Typical Accountabilities:
• Ensures, either as a project manager or expert support, successful management of external, collaborative initiatives with other organisations outside of AstraZeneca, ensuring they deliver against their set objectives
• Oversees or provides expert technical support to a local, national or regional team of professionals working to ensure the success of external, collaborative projects
• Supports the development of a national strategy for the External Alliance and Relationship team and ensures compliance of own team with the strategy
• Supports the governance process of external collaborative projects by ensuring adequate monitoring and reporting of costs and benefits
• Ensures that all external project work is carried out in accordance with AstraZeneca standards and regulations
• Represents AstraZeneca and its External Alliance and Relationship function at external events
• Networks with colleagues across the business and external experts to identify potential alliance initiatives, providing expertise on carrying those initiatives through to actual projects
• May performance manage a team of external alliance and relationship professionals
• Nurtures relationships with existing and potential external partners, ensuring an adequate network of potential collaboration partners is in place for functional leaders to call upon
Typical People Management Responsibility (direct / indirect reports):
• Approximate number of people managed in total (all levels) - 15-30
• Manager of a team
What is the global remit? (how many countries will the role operate in?):
• Own country
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Essential: Bachelor’s of Science; Extensive experience in External Alliance & Relationships within a pharmaceutical or clinical background; Thorough knowledge of External Alliance & Relationships processes and local regulations
• Desirable: Advanced degree in a scientific discipline; Extensive knowledge of the latest technical and regulatory expectations; Knowledge of existing AstraZeneca external alliances and collaborative projects

• Internal (to AZ or team): Senior Management within External Alliance & Relationships; Cross functional teams across AstraZeneca
• External (to AZ): External service providers and regulatory bodies; Collaborative Partners
